The RoaringApps compatibility table works best with a decent internet connection and reasonably-specced computer.
10.6.8 Wont Apps Go
- I think I have finally convinced my wife to update her iMac from 10.6.8. Mine is at 10.8.2. That is, I bought Lion and Mountain Lion, and App Store on her machine says they are available for download and installation. We use the same Apple ID for things like this. Question: Do I install.
- I purchased yesterday. One of my older MACs has 10.6.8. Product wont install. Says I need to update my OS. I dont want to do that for many reasons.
- If you don't want to trust an Internet version of the app, you can always reinstall from your Snow Leopard disc / restore media and run the combo updater of your choice. Any combo updater 10.6.6, 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 will have the App Store on it. Also, your backup should have a copy of the app.
F.lux is installed on an iMac (OS X 10.6.8, snow leopard) and the location has been set up correctly but the programme won't open. When I open Activity Monitor, f.lux shows up as a running programme and appears to be using a small% of CPU, but in my dock there is no dot underneath the app icon, which implies that the programme is not currently. And - you still have your full backup, in the (unlikely) event that you need to restore the iMac to 10.6.8 I fully expect that you won't need to do that, and your wife's iMac will get to 10.9.1 without much great drama - other than an hour or two for the upgrade process to complete.
